Caffè Italia presents a review of the Marzocco Linea Mini, a model inspired by the famous Linea Classic model conceived in this case for the domestic world. The Marzocco Linea Mini is a combination of elegance and reliability that allows all “home baristas” to prepare a wide variety of drinks: from espresso coffee to cappuccino, from long coffee to latte macchiato.
USE & TECHNOLOGY
The Marzocco Mini Line has a compact size (36 cm wide, 53 cm long and 39 cm high) but the weight of 41 kg is considerable, and the boiler provides a capacity of 3.5 liters. The body is entirely made of stainless steel. The capacity of the tank is of 2L aspect that makes optional the possible connection to the water network.
The flash boiler has a volume of 170 ml and is positioned directly above the dispensing group. This ensures excellent thermal stability thanks to the PID control and thermal stability system that, positioned in the steam boiler, promotes the arrival of water already at temperature. The machine is also equipped with a second very large boiler (3.5 L) for the distribution of hot water and steam.
The Marzocco Linea Mini is equipped with an integrated rotary pump that guarantees an optimized performance. The control by means of PID is a bit complicated because of the analogue wheel which often involves reading inaccurate numbers when compared to the digital programming methodologies. A very interesting aspect is that of the LED lights that illuminate directly the tray under the dispensing spout.
DESIGN
The Mini line has a minimal design but complete with all the elements necessary for the preparation of drinks: knobs for steam and hot water control, pressure gauges that measure the pressure of the boiler and the pump, large cups warmer. The design is also inspired by the classic Linea models, but the dimensions are adapted for a domestic use. Interesting color option that presents the models in black, red, yellow, blue, white and stainless.
MAINTENANCE
The Marzocco Mini Line has a comfortable tap for hot water with a spout to rinse the portafilter between one coffee and another. The removable panel allows easy maintenance and descaling of both blocks, while the valves allow manual rinsing during and after use thatavoids the need for an automatic cleaning cycle and therefore also the use of chemical products for maintenance.
